Affiliate Programs Test The Affiliate Waters

Most of the articles and sales pages you read about affiliate programs make it sound very attractive, and it is. It is relatively easy to set up a website and start promoting products. Keep in mind however there are thousands of others promoting those same products.
There are eBooks that will tell you exactly how to make thousands in a very short time. Just follow this simple formula. You will be spending mornings at poolside eating steak and eggs and sipping champaign from your playmates slipper. Now, all facetiousness aside, the formula when you purchase it might not lead to riches, but it might serve as a good start.
For instance, the formula may go something like this:
- Sign up for a web site hosting plan. These can be had for as little as $5.95 a month and include domain name and hosting fees. Sitebuilder tutorials and online support make learning a cinch. (Maybe not that easy, but not difficult).
- Go to ClickBank or Commission Junction (affiliate merchant sites) and familiarize yourself with their products. Here your eBook instructions might give you a formula explaining how to pick the best products that you will easily be able to sell.
- Next, they may even include a traffic marketing strategy. This could be in the form of submitting articles to directories. These articles sites allow you a link at the bottom of the page. You can direct this link to your web page and then link to an affiliate page. Voila, you have your business up and running.
Now, all of the above is very doable. As you carry out these various steps it will all make sense. However don’t sit around waiting for that poolside scenario to happen. By the same token don’t be discouraged.
Think of it in the sense of having learned some valuable skills. You did, and have given yourself a solid foundation for building on these new skills.
Affiliate programs require you learn all phases of internet marketing. Concentrate in the area of how to send traffic to your site and you’ll see positive results.
